SkyNet Goes Live

Ok, I'm not sure how much intelligence is behind this but if Microsoft is behind it you can bet it will work much better than similiar services. Yes I am a big fan of Microsoft for good reason.
Store files from multiple sources. Store and access your personal files from anywhere online.
This can augment the use of a USB key and eliminates the need for you to back up the USB key which is very easy to loose. All you do is create a Windows live ID. Then once you are in the site then set your permissions to private unless you have a reason not to.
When uploading you can use the standard web upload method likely using ASP which allows you to load a few files at a time or you can install a upload tool that allows drag and drop.

Don't Let Itunes hold you hostage anymore.

What I hate about the Ipod is Itunes. If I was the only one we wouldn't have Floola.

Floola is a freeware application to efficiently manage your iPod or your Motorola mobile phone (any model supporting iTunes).

It's a standalone application that can be run directly from your iPod and needs no installation under Linux, Mac OS X and Windows (Windows Vista is supported).Floola supports all common used iPod features including artwork, podcasts and smart playlists! It's also able to convert audio or video incompatible with the iPod so that you can copy almost any file to it. It even allows adding youtube and myspace videos just entering the page url!

A Day In The Life Of A Dog And A Cat

The Dog's Diary:

My favorite thing!12:00 PM - Milk bones! My favorite thing!1:00 PM - Played in the yard! My favorite thing!3:00 PM - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!5:00 PM - Dinner! My favorite thing!7:00 PM - Got to play ball! My favorite thing!8:00 PM - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing!
11:00 PM - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

The Cat's Diary:
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an Attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and Snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the Guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an Elevated Cell, so he is safe.

For now!

Out of the Dark into the Light with RightMark

RightMark CPU Clock Utility

http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml

RightMark CPU Clock Utility (RMClock) is a small GUI application designed for real-time CPU frequency, throttling and load level monitoring and on-the-fly adjustment of the CPU performance level on supported CPU models via processor's power management model-specific registers (MSRs). In automatic management mode it continuously monitors the CPU usage level and dynamically adjusts the CPU frequency, throttle and/or voltage level as needed, realizing the "Performance on Demand" concept.

So what does all that mean?

Basically this application allows you to see how your CPU is performing and how it is configured to perform, taking the guess work out of it. This isn't just a benchmark application. It is a very light weight utility that gives you control over CPU and battery profile settings.

My Laptop was extremely slow. I did some serious investigation and determined the processor speed was running at 600mhz on a 1.6Ghz CPU. This was a Intel stepping processor. The Stepping feature allows you to conserve battery life when unplugged. The Windows OS power scheme controls this feature. When I set the feature for maximum performance when on batteries I was still seeing problems with performance when docked and on battery.

RightMark allowed me to see the current clock setting and allows me to force maximum performance at all times. You can tweak this as you see fit. Maybe there is an application you use on the road. You can tweak the processor stepping to meet you minimum requirements.

This is a free utlity and when running it can show a status in your system tray. For some CPUs you can monitor temperature as well. This may not be something you need to actively run all the time but I would have it in my tool chest until needed.

Stop Widgeting

Spring Widgets
http://www.springwidgets.com/

Easy to use, not so easy to set up.
Basically this is a RSS feed reader that is completely free. You can run it out of a web site or as a stand alone desktop application.

Steps:

1.) add your feeds in the frame on the left
2.) click the options button on the widget and select HTML to copy.
3.) Dump it in your web site.

Coming back to the site after logging out you click on your profile. Then click on the widget ICON you want to edit. Then click personalize this widget.

Don't let this become a nasty habit.

Its time for you to enjoy the moment

Mihov Gallery Creator
http://www.gallerycreator.net/

This program will automate the process of creating image galleries. It creates a thumb nail view and a slide show browser. You could code this is ASP pulling file names from the source directory but this is much simpler.

See the end results.

Are your photos organized? Do you keep all of them no matter how bad they are? Does anyone look at your photos? Do you have a system to deal with your digital photos?

This might be a great place to start.
